Join Our Dynamic Team As A Candy Slinger - Production and Event Support!

Application Dates: March 25th to April 7th

Start Date: Flexible (April start)

Hourly Wage: $16 - $18 per hour, based on experience and skill sets

Schedule: This is a part-time role that REQUIRES evening and weekend availability. 15 to 30 hours a week, depending on availability.

Location: 11769 40th Street SE, Calgary Alberta, and events around Calgary.

Drivers License and Vehicle: Applicant must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Our warehouse is not easily accessible on transit, and our event locations may require you to drive company vehicles or your own.

• Overall Team Support: Steps in where needed, eagerly wanting to increase efficiency, proactively helping on tasks, and demonstrating clear communication with the team.

A Candy Slinger should be able to work quickly and efficiently while being The Sugar Cube's friendly face. This engaging part-time role involves performing various tasks at our warehouse and on-site at multiple events while embracing a dynamic and ever-changing work environment.

Responsibilities:

Warehouse Production Support:

• Ensure efficient and accurate execution of warehouse tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
• Quick on your feet, not afraid of physical labour and highly efficient with repetitive tasks.
• Receiving candy orders, lifting heavy boxes, and organizing based on a FIFO system.
• Follow established processes and develop new procedures to optimize productivity.
• Work independently and efficiently and stay on task while producing quality products in a limited timeframe. 
• Record production times meticulously, keeping track of average order fulfillment.  
• Effectively and proactively communicate status updates to managers - keeping the team in the loop about all progress and key issues.
• Adhere to and keep up with allergen knowledge and other custom requests.
• Cleaning duties of the warehouse, keeping personal and communal spaces organized, sanitized, and meticulously cleaned.

Event Support:

• During events, provide professional and engaging support by working on the candy truck, spinning cotton candy, and assisting with various candy buffets and other event types.
• Follow instructions from event managers, promptly address issues, and proactively solve customer problems with a positive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile.
• Perform tasks related to the basic maintenance, cleanliness and operation of our candy truck and cotton candy carts.
• Maintain cleanliness and adhere to proper sanitization standards throughout all work areas. Comply with ASH standards and practices to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
• Adhere to operational processes and procedures, ensuring a smooth and consistent workflow.
• Show up on time, prepared and professional in all event settings.
• Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring that clients have the best experience possible.
• Very physical work - heavy loading required (lifting carts in and out of cargo van, loading heavy totes, carrying candy and large cotton candy machines).

Qualifications:

• A genuine passion for candy and an upbeat, friendly demeanour.
• Exceptional customer service skills with a natural ability to engage with customers and be a team player - wearing many hats and balancing many tasks.
• Reliable and punctual with a flexible schedule, mainly available Thursday to Monday, with evening and mandatory weekend availability.
• You must have access to a car or reliable ride as locations change often, and the warehouse location is not easily accessible via transit.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment - on your feet doing physical labour.
• Ability to follow established processes and procedures while adapting to changing circumstances and providing insight.
• Must be physically capable of heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
